Upon successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:

• Explain how Hugo Grotius' views on the proper conduct of international relations are based in his understanding of natural law.
• Explain how David Hume thinks the concept of justice comes to have meaning, to take hold within society, and to expand in its scope of consideration. 
• Describe Immanuel Kant's vision of perpetual peace among states and how it might come to be.
• Discuss various conceptual and practical relationships between states and international law.
