- explain the origins and influence of international law;
- discuss the nature, conduct, and purpose of war;
- illustrate the defining features of terrorism;
- analyze the debate over the “clash of civilizations” and
“democratic peace” theories in international politics; and
- explain the doctrine and international practice of human rights.
