These are Chinese characters (題, 得, 登, 琉) written in three styles (from top to bottom: w:Kaisho, w:Gyōsho, w:Sōsho) by en:user:Exploding Boy. Notice how the shape of the character remains the same while the individual strokes are radically altered.
