Martin A. Martin of Danville, Virginia is sworn in on May 31, 1943 in Washington, D.C. as the first African American member of the Trial Bureau of the Department of Justice. Mrs. Nellie G. Plumley, appointment clerk, is administering the oath. Behind him is Attorney Oliver Hill of Richmond, Virginia and Frank Coleman, Special Assistant to Attorney-General Biddle. |
