Human Resource Management is about attracting, developing, and retaining a productive workforce in your company. What are the steps to attract a qualified employee? After re-reading Section 7.1, consider the challenge of managing three generations in the workplace (Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Generation Y). Research the characteristics of each generation and its implications in the workplace. What other challenges lie ahead in the U.S. labor force?
5.2.1: Employee Benefits
Review pages 256-262 of Introduction to Business , beginning with the material beneath the "Employee Benefits" heading. Then, in the Exploring Business textbook, review Chapter 7, especially Section 7.4: What Makes a Great Place to Work?
Finally, complete the assignment "Creating an Employee Benefit Plan" on page 271 of Introduction to Business. Also complete "Comparing Benefit Plans" on pages 273-274. You will work on these tasks independently, rather than with a team.
