    • Exploring Business: "Chapter 6: Managing for Business Success," "Chapter 7: Recruiting, Motivating, and Keeping Quality Employees," and "Chapter 8: Teamwork and Communications"
      Read chapters 6 through 8. You may advance from Chapter 6 to the subsequent chapters by clicking the "Next Chapter" hyperlink at the top right of each page. Complete the exercises at the end of each section.
    • 5.1.1: The Skills Needed for Management

      • Leslie Lum's Introduction to Business: Readings and Workbook: "Module 5: Management, Leadership and Employees"

        Re-read pages 249-253 of Introduction to Business to learn about top management and skills that a manager needs. Additionally, review Section 6.6: Managerial Skills from Exploring Business, which includes discussions on various skills: technical, interpersonal, communication, conceptual, time-management, and decision-making.

        After this review, complete the assignment on page 283 of Introduction to Business, in which you will analyze the qualities and characteristics of the leadership of Steve Jobs. After you finish reading, write a brief 500-700 word reflection on Steve Jobs as a leader.

    • 5.1.2: Corporate Social Responsibility

      • Exploring Business: "Chapter 2: Business Ethics and Social Responsibility"

        Re-read the material beneath the heading "Corporate Social Responsibility" on pages 252 and 253 of Introduction to Business . Afterward, read this Chapter 2 of Exploring Business and complete the exercises at the end of each section.

      • Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges: Leslie Lum's "Introduction to Business: Readings and Workbook"

        Complete the assignment on page 257. Instead of working as a team, work individually to research several companies that have succeeded or failed at maintaining ethics for social responsibility. Keep track of these companies by using the chart provided. After you have completed your research, present your finding to family members or friends, and then have them vote on which company was the best for the Hall of Fame and the worst for the Hall of Shame.
